Are You Making A Mistake With Your HairStyle?

February 2019…Starting to grow it out with a touch of auburn

I’ve been growing my hair out again, and just as we hit the coldest time of year I want to cut it off {glad I don’t get cold easily 🤦🏻‍♀️}.

At this week’s hair appointment I think I’m cutting it off to start the new decade – I think. I need a change, I’m just not sure what kind of change. I want a hairstyle that fits my face shape.

Have you looked that up before? Your face shape?

I thought I knew mine, but reading up on the types again I’d put myself into two categories. Turns out there are six types of face shapes, twice as many as I thought. Usually I see a cute hairstyle, take a photo in and say, “Lets try this one.” This time around I’m going to try ideas for the oval/rectangle shapes.

The challenge:: I love putting my hair up in a messy bun when I exercise, but the angular bob + long, face-framing layers ideas for my face shape don’t work with a messy bun {messy part yes, but not the bun part }. This article on Byrdie.com was the most helpful in giving me a few ideas for my new decade hairstyle.

Six Face Shapes – Which one {or combo} are you?

  1. Diamond:: This is a pointed chin + high cheekbones
  2. Heart:: Forehead is widest part of face + pointed chin
  3. Oval:: Forehead is tiny bit wider + rounded chin
  4. Rectangular:: Kinda like the square, just longer…like a rectangle
  5. Round:: Curved sides + rounded chin with cheekbones the widest feature
  6. Square:: Sides of the face are straight with slightly angled jawline

This graphic + article was the best one I found to easily figure out what I was going to do with my head of hair.

We’ll see what ideas my hair stylist has for me. You can always catch my day over on Instagram Stories {and highlights} if you’re curious.

Next appointment we are changing my hair color…Now to decide which color. I guarantee you it ain’t gonna be gray!

Cheers & Sparkles to your week!

P.S. Next week we’re looking at adding some healthy to our day. A few quick tips to start – even if it’s just a wee-bit healthier 😉 We don’t have to go all in or nothing at all {this is where THERE IS ROOM FOR GRAY}.

P.P.S. In February I’m doing a month of iphone photography tips! Because when do we not have that in our pockets for a quick photo!?
