Don’t Shop For Your Clothes Until You See These Ideas!

Back-to-school shopping is in motion so this week I’m showing three looks to add to your closet for school and your senior portraits.

First up – DRESSES! We start school with warm days and dresses keep us cool, look cute + fun to move {or dance} in.

The current trends are short and flowy + tank dresses. The Free People and Superdry dresses below aren’t just cute, but great for your senior session to move, dance, skip, or just sit creek-side.

Second staple for your closet – JEANS! I live in jeans! Whether you like high-waisted, skinny, or the ex-boyfriend jeans go for comfort. Nothing’s worse than trying to focus in class and having your jeans sit wrong or gap in the back. The more spandex in the jean the more stretch. Add some lycra and they start to feel like yoga pants – jean style {#bestjeanever}.

p>Matching shirts + layering pieces into your style is easy with jeans. For school or your senior portraits remember to add LAYERS to your wardrobe. When you’re shopping look at the displays and how they lay onto each outfit. Chain stores are sent spec sheets showing the staff just how to set up the window displays, so look for inspiration there. Small boutiques style throughout their shop + have staff on hand to help you design your outfit to mix-n-match for different looks. Don’t be shy to ask for style tips while you’re shopping.

Buying three different colored tank tops / t-shirts to wear for the week under a kimono, jacket, or flannel is a simple layering idea. The longer waist-tie kimono above can be layered with jeans, a skirt, or shorts.

Don’t let patterns scare you way either. Keep your bottoms {jeans, shorts, skirts, leggings} in solid colors and go wild with your tops to mix-n-match for days.

And heavens-to-mercy don’t forget the SHOES! There are so many shoes & so little time to wear them. Sometimes I take two pair along with me for a long day – no joke.

shoes, shopping

No, not at the same time. But when we have a long walking day in the city I bring walking shoes along so my feet don’t hate me the next day.

And your last resource for help is ME! If you’re out shopping for outfits for our upcoming SMP senior session, text me a photo of what you’re thinking about buying and I’m happy to help you style-it-up.

Collect all your pieces and bring them with you to your consultation, or snap a photo and bring a picture on your phone, whichever is easier. We’ll plan out each outfit + where they’ll fit into each location. The school doors are opening soon so let’s get styled-up and ready to walk in!

CHEERS + Happy Shopping!
