Are You 1980’s or 2022? | Professional Headshot Sycamore

Did the words “professional headshot” get you to click on the article this week?

The title? … The image?

Or, did a friend forward it to you because you need a new headshot?

I’m glad you clicked so I can help you. Whether by taking your headshots or giving you help in taking a better shot. And the first piece of advice is letting yourself relax…

Remember Ferris Bueller’s iconic words, “Life moves pretty fast…” What would he say now?

The second is to remember we don’t have much time to catch someone’s attention as they scroll. The key is to STOP the scroll + get noticed, while still presenting your professional look. Let your potential customers know they found the right business to solve their problem. It’s different for every person + every type of business.

What does your professional headshot say?

Today your professional headshot needs to be infused with personality…YOUR personality! If you’re the face of your brand you want different looks of your personality to use on different platforms.

Realtor’s need studio shots with a classic backdrop, but equally important are images showcasing them in a home or office space they manage. Taking images around the community they sell in gives buyers confidence that they can help answer questions about their new home, rental, or office space.

Start with a professional headshot and then add personality and community images to your portfolio. The key to branding your business is giving value + sharing your human, everyday side. In my branding photoshoots we outline each set of images that will benefit your business on all of the social sites you speak on each week.

If you have the skills to shoot these photos on your own, start by writing out a list of all the places you put your headshot.

Second, put your wardrobe(s) together {remembering your brand colors}.

Third, what backgrounds and colors fit your brand on your photo list?

Going into your photo shoot organized is the best use of your time. And as a business owner, we know TIME = MONEY.

Professional Headshot – Creative On-location

Your business story depends on your unique brand and business. I’ve photographed headshots for performance playbills, website launches, + creatives who are looking to show all parts of their business.

Are you a service or product based business?

How do you help potential clients?

What emotions do you want to capture in your headshot and branding photos?

Before the photoshoot I ask clients for a list of their day-to-day activities, standard dress attire, brand colors, and props so we can get the most images in one Branding Session.  If only a few updated images are needed, we can capture them in a Deluxe or Elite Headshot Session within an hour.

How can you add some flair and personality to your professional headshot?

How Would You Express These Words In A Personality Image::

  • Confidence
  • Excitement
  • Surprise
  • Professional
  • Shock
  • Admiration
  • Joy

A Branding Session allows us to capture a variety of lifestyle shots, headshots, and Images in-the-field.

Yes, most of your images are related to your business, but including personal images share your human side, especially if your business promotes work + life balance. The type of lifestyle images depends on your business and brand.  But the latest small business research says being MORE HUMAN in all your marketing.

Lifestyle Shot Ideas::

  • Taking a walk
  • Reading a book
  • Cooking in the kitchen

Walk your customer through your day with photos, and let them know what it’s like to work with you, and show how you can help them when they work with you?
