Searching for a College + Tia’s Senior Session

Searching for a college home is a big deal! You want a good fit, to have fun, and give options for the major or program that your heart set on.

Searching for a college

When Tia started looking at her prospective college home she had big decisions to make. We chatted about it during her senior session!

I know any college would be lucky to have such a bright, kind + fun young woman. She looked at an impressive range of colleges::

Tia is a very smart little lady + successful in her academics. Right now she’s set her goals towards one day becoming an architectural engineer. High aspirations she’s set for herself + has her plan for getting it done!

Now back to the part where she likes to HAVE FUN! When we met up for her senior pictures, I had just stumbled on a beautiful, shimmering wheat field on my morning walk.

I was out visiting Washington state and the wheat field hadn’t been harvested yet. Good timing, because Tia wanted to include a wheat field and a stunning sunset that always reminded her of home. {She was visiting Walla Walla at the same time – kismet!}

Earlier in the evening we went to a college campus. No better time to get that “college feel”;)

After our last location we raced, didn’t speed of course, out to the wheat field just in time for sunset.

Plot Twist to the senior story…

We made it in time only to find nothing but wheat stubble!

Surprise! The farmer harvested the wheat between my walk at sun up & now, sunset!

It made for a good laugh + it made for a hilarious memory.

Tia was a great sport, and we captured a gorgeous sunset anyways! We also utilized an old railroad track nearby, {closed for years}. It had the perfect rustic feel.

The moral of the STORY…

We photographed all the pieces of “home” in her session; the gorgeous Whitman College campus, Grandma’s house, and the sunset fields.

Tia, you’re such a joy and I’m tickled we ended up in Walla Walla at the same time this summer to capture your senior portraits!
